Tippin's act at Penn's Peak includes Toys-for-Tots bicycle donation

Aaron Tippin put on quite a performance on Friday night at Penn's Peak.

The country singer had sang all his charted hits, presented a full sack of humor, bantered with the crowd, and at one point, put together a two-wheel bicycle - doing the feat in under three minutes - while singing a song.

The bicycle will be donated to the local Toys-for-Tots campaign, an annual program by the Marine Corps League that gives toys to children.

Nicole Donatone, a rising country music star who earned her radio/TV degree from Northampton in 2010, says, "Music gets me through every day. It influences who I am. It's the puzzle pieces of my life: the good, the bad, happy and sad."

With a voice that's been compared to Patsy Cline's, Donatone has been tapped to open shows for country stars including Willie Nelson, Connie Smith, John Michael Montgomery, Tracy Byrd, Sammy Kershaw, Restless Heart and Randy Travis. "Making music is my passion," she says. "I’m blessed to have been able to perform with some of my heroes, but the best part is when a fan approaches me after a show to say that one of my songs has touched them. When you have that connection with your audience, it’s amazing."

Nicole Donatone opens concert with cover song assortment

It's been awhile since the band Restless Heart has had a big hit. In the music industry, there's a saying that if you don't keep recording, you're quickly forgotten.

On Saturday night at Penn's Peak, it was obvious that the fans still very well remember the sextet. Restless Heart performed a 15-number set that included every one of the band's seven number one hits, including "The Bluest Eyes in Texas", a ballad which proved to be one of the crowd's favorites judging by the applause.

Opening for country star Sammy Kershaw at Penn's Peak was local songstress, Nicole Donatone and "The Who Knows Band."

She opened with a little Patsy Cline in "Write Me in Care of the Blues" and "I Fall to Pieces," followed by "I Feel Lucky," and LeAnn Rimes' "Blue." She paid tribute to country's queen, Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter" and belted out Miranda Lambert's "The House that Built Me" and ended with a soulful "Last Blue Moon of Kentucky."
